Whooping Crane
Grus Americana
The whooping crane is the tallest of all birds in North America. An adult male stands 5' tall. It breeds in Canada during the summer months and then migrates to the Texas coastal plain. The biggest cause of death among adult cranes is collisions with power lines during migration.
